The
Huntsville Chapter Board of Directors conducts the business of the
chapter and meets
each
month. The Board consists of five chapter officers, the Immediate Past
President and Parliamentary Advisor. Officers are elected in May and
their term runs from July 1 – June 30.

Stacey Brewer,
CAP
President
Stacey is an Executive Assistant at
Redstone Federal Credit Union.
He served as the 2008-2009 Vice
President and most recently as the 2009-2010 President-Elect of
the Huntsville Chapter.
Stacey earned his CAP in 2008 and
was selected as the Huntsville Chapter “2008 Member of the
Year”.
In 2009, he was named the
Huntsville Chapter “Administrative Professional of the Year”.
In February 2008, he helped charter
the J.F. Drake State Technical College Student Chapter and has
remained active in supporting student members.
He received his Associate Degree of
Science in Business from Snead State Community College in 2005
and is currently enrolled at the University of North Alabama
pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with a
History Minor.

Dedra Herod,
CAP
President Elect
Dedra has been employed at HudsonAlpha Institute for
Biotechnology, Huntsville, Alabama since November of 2007. She
is the Executive Assistant to the Director of Educational
Outreach, Dr. Neil Lamb. After joining IAAP in 2008, she
received her Certified Administrative Professional rating in May
2009. During the past two
years, Dedra has been focused on supporting the rapidly
expanding programming at HudsonAlpha. Having established those
roles and responsibilities and obtained her CAP rating, she
looks forward to helping the IAAP Huntsville Chapter. She is
especially excited about serving in leadership positions,
mentoring and promoting certification.

Margie Burchfield
Vice President
Margie is the Senior Executive Assistant for deciBel Research,
Inc. She began her administrative career at the bright young
age of 19 while in the Air Force. Since then, Margie has held a
number of administrative positions. Margie joined IAAP in 2009
and jumped on board as the 2009-2010 Student Chapter Program
Committee Chair. She is passionate about students and will
continue as the 2010-2011 Student Program Chair. Margie is a
native of Huntsville and enjoys traveling and spending time with
her two dachshunds.

Rebecca Ortiz
Secretary
Rebecca is an Executive Assistant with Analytical Services, Inc.
She joined IAAP in April 2007. She served as chair of the Ways &
Means Committee for two consecutive years and served on the
Membership Committee this past year. Rebecca was named the
Huntsville Chapter “2009 Member of the Year”. In addition to her
duties as secretary this year, she will also serve as the
Hospitality Committee chair.

Ruth Ghoja, CPS
Treasurer
Ruth is an Administrative Secretary for the Madison County
Commission. She joined IAAP in 2009 and earned her CPS rating in
May 2009. She plans to pursue her CAP rating in the near future.
Ruth grew up in North Carolina and studied Business Management
at North Carolina State University. Ruth is an avid soccer fan
and has served in volunteer positions as player registrar and
board member at large for Valley Futbol Club in Madison as well
as Board Member At-Large for Alabama Youth Soccer Association.
She is married to David Ghoja, and they have two adult sons; Ash
and Alex.

Slone West,
CPS/CAP
Immediate Past President
Slone is an Administrative Assistant at Management Technology
Consulting Council, Inc. (MTCC). Soon after joining IAAP in
January 2006, Slone earned the CPS rating in May 2006 and the
CAP rating in November 2006. Slone was the Huntsville Chapter
“2008 Administrative Professional of the Year”. She is currently
enrolled at Faulkner University pursuing a Bachelor of Business
Administration.

Carolyn Drake, CPS/CAP
Parliamentary Advisor
Carolyn is an administrative assistant for Toyota Motor
Manufacturing Alabama, Inc. She is a Past President for the
Alabama Division of IAAP and has served in every officer
position on the chapter level and every position except
Treasurer for the Alabama Division. She is a charter member of
the Huntsville Chapter and has been a member of IAAP since 1999.
Carolyn received her CPS rating in May 2004 and her CAP rating
in November 2006. She was the 2005 Huntsville Chapter
Administrative Professional of the Year.
